Velo members,
Well done to Scott O'Neill-Gwilliams today whilst racing in the senior event at Shrewsbury around a fast, technical and at times muddy circuit.
Scott was riding well in the cold freezing conditions and was gaining pace upto the leaders. Unfortunately, Scott snapped his rear mech on the 4th lap and had to run with his bike past the finish line to the pits to collect his spare bike to continue in the race.
The main senior race was won by the local Malvern mountain biker - Liam Killeen from Jody Crawforth and Paul Oldham.
The ladies race was won by the former olympic mountain biker - Louise Robinson from Isla Rowntree (both riding for Stourbridge CC) - Hannah Payton (Kinesis Morvelo Project) was 5th - Hannah also won the overall National Trophy series of events for the second year running - well done!
Kevin Payton (Stourbridge CC) rode well in the veterans race for riders aged over 50 years old and finished 10th in the annual National Trophy series.
A great day was had by the Milner family watching the cyclo cross events at the Shrewsbury Sports Village whilst drinking a warm flask of vegetable soup - Mark Hammond and another Velo member rode out to support the events too!
Regards.
Alistair
