    Riding In The Alps

Post  Fat Bird In Lycra on Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:04 am

    Hi everyone.

I've been writing in my blog about my recent trip to the Alps. Here's a link to my story of riding the Col de la Columbiere:

Oh dear, that wasn't a lot of water for a lot of riding was it. Nice blog. Just out of interest where/what are the stone slabs underneath your crutches on the banner photo.

    Hi Scott

The slabs were designed by the Swiss artist H.R. Giger and I took the photograph of my pins in front of the entrance to the Giger museum in Gruyere, Switzerland. The museum is impressive enough but the Giger bar opposite is awesome, like walking onto the set of Alien. For the uninitiated, H.R. Giger is the artist who designed the Alien and alien environment for the original Ridley Scott movie.

I'll be adding photographs of the Giger bar to my blog quite soon.

    oh, you like Giger eh?

I thought I coulD see what looked like spinal cord on the picture (al la Giger) but i wasn't sure if it was some fancy clinic you may have been to.

If you are intetrested in Giger I inherited (read: hand-me-down) a book entitled 'The Art of Alien' years ago from a cousin and it's full of all of his concept work for the film. Let me know if you want a look and i'll drop it in with Baz.

Thanks, I'd like to see that Giger book, it isn't one I've come across.

I've just added another Alpine ride to my blog:

This one is about the Col du Petit St Bernard.

Also, Baz says your wheels are ready Very Happy

Splendid, i'll drop the book in tomorrow, I won't get time to go home tonight before I go and collect the wheels.

Nice blog again, especially the photos. I'm impressed to see a member of the Two Wheels staff wearing lycra - I thought it was against company policy Smile
